I am so sorry for your loss! I had 4 blue Swedish ducks and 1 was taken by either a fox or hawk. I was absolutely heart broken. Now I am afraid to let them out of there pen. They are 6 weeks old and love to swim in the lake. If i let them out in the day and put them away at night is that what most of you do? I'm new at this and do not want to loose another one.

I'm sorry for your loss, I just lost a bantam hen to a large hawk yesterday she was attacked inside our fenced property, It's a heart breaking thing to lose one but letting them free range it's always something that can happen. Never an easy decision. At 6 weeks though they are still pretty young and small you might want to wait till spring to let them on the lake. and yes mine are out all day and locked up at night. We've never had a hawk so bold.

She lived for a month after the attack and seemed to be doing great then she never woke up one morning so I'm assuming she may have had internal injuries that didn't heal properly even though we took every precaution. We miss her. :(
