2 hens are setting, suppose to be hatching tomorrow. Just went down, and one biddy got off her nest to see what I brought. One egg pipping. The other hen is more alert, like there might be something interesting going on underneath her.

I have had chickens for years, but this is the best part even after all these years. Not counting my chickens until they hatch, but excited just the same.

Two chicks hatched, and the broody had them out of the nest, and outside in the run. The other broody is still sticking tight to her nest, but is more alert, and like she is feeling something under her. I listened carefully, but heard nothing...so far. Off tomorrow so should see something. Granddaughters are coming for the week-end, so this will be fun.

Looks like 3 hatched, 2 lived. I have two eggs still under her, and she is sitting but getting restless. I don't think she will stay much longer - and I don't think those eggs are viable. This will be good going into winter.

Such a fun hobby.
