One Egg!!

This afternoon I went out to my coop to check my chickens and to gather my eggs. But when I got out there I only had one? they produce between 4 to 5 a day and I have 11 hens. Does anyone know why I only got one egg today?

Mabey they are hiding them. My silkie girls are bad about it.

but why would they hide them?

There are a number of possibilities.

1. A two legged predator who likes eggs.

2. A chicken who has become an egg eater.

3. Do you have snakes? They'll eat eggs.

4. They took a day off?

My girls layed great in the nesting box all winter. They started tapering off till I was just getting one egg once in a while (4 hens). I thought they were going to molt or something. Then my son discovered their new nest with 11 eggs in it! Out in the bushes.
