One "evil" quail (extremely aggressive)

Rehome the aggressive one, or euthanize her, a bird that is terrorizing the rest of the flock(to the point where they are so stressed they won't lay) is not worth keeping, alternatively you could build or buy her a separate cage and keep her isolated from the rest. There is no need to rehome all of your quail because one bird is nasty, good luck with your decison.

The OP is frustrated & mad I think we all understand. It can be a huge disappointment when what you thought it would be one way(having quail) and it turns out to be another. Responsibility for animals is not a choice to make lightly. Full commitment means learning some hard unpleasant lessons. Try not to make emotional decisions...trust me those are the one’s you’ll always regret. Best wishes

Well said.

You really don't need to rehome all of them, just the problem one.

You're right, I'm just incredibly upset and frustrated at the situation.

Are you sure they are all coturnix?
Yes they are

Yeah I'm going to try to rehome her asap. It's incredible how angry that little bird is. She just keeps getting angrier and angrier. I temporarily put them all back together and it was awful. She attacked everyone and especially picks on one of them. The other quails have started laying again after removing the mean quail.

Thank you so much for this. That's exactly how I'm feeling today. I was incredibly upset the past few days over this quail situation. Good news is the other 4 quails are now laying! I am making the decision to at least rehome the extremely aggressive female. She now attacks humans very aggressively and all other quails. I was expecting a lot to go wrong with taking care of animals (it always does with animals doesn't it?) but I didn't account for one of the quails going absolute bonkers.

It might be she has some kind of hormone issue that's causing her aggression. Not fixable, but it's an explanation. Behavior like this isn't at all beneficial for a social species, something is probably off.

I'm just shocked that it was kind of sudden. She was ok the first week or so when she was here. Then it seemed like all of a sudden she started becoming really aggressive. Maybe it really is the horomones

I have quail like that I removed the problem and gave it away to someone down the road (they are gonna eat it). I got rid of the quail a little to late though it killed my favorite quail.

Could she have some kind of injury? Quail and chickens get aggressive when they are in pain. They can hide alot under their feathers, and make sure to check her feet quail are prone to feet issues like getting balls of manure/dirt on their toes and build up on their soles of their feet can cause bumblefoot. They also easily dislocate their knees.
Or maybe its because you dont have a roo and shes trying to act like the top bird? And just in case she is a roo could you post some pics of her chest and vent? If its a male they are easy to vent sex, white foam will come out when you push their tail up...

I am on your same situation, but with a male. I need to re home him. How can I find a place for him? I'm not sure which thread/link/forum to go to to post for rehoming?
