One eye closed, head down, lethargic

Update. Her eye is still closed and she just sits by herself most of the day in the back of the run away from her flockmates. I've still been treating her but I just noticed this afternoon when she briefly opened her eye for a few seconds, that it now appears clouded. Is my baby going blind?? :hit

Sorry to hear about her eye now looking cloudy. If your unable to take her to the vet, I think it's worth a try to get the Veterycin ophthalmic drops or ointment. If that doesn't help, it could be she has developed a cataract. However, I thought when a bird developed a cataract, the eye turns cloudy, but not red or stays closed. I know change in eye sight can cause change in behavior, keeping to self. I hope other members that have seen this before will post comments.

Thank you.

Unfortunately I live in California so I don't think the Veterycin is available for us. I've tried my local feed store and that's what they tell me. Even on-line it says they cannot ship it to California. As of January we can no longer purchase any type of antibiotics/med's without a prescription. I hate California, we have the most stupidest laws.

What other options do I have other than a vet? Thank you so much for any assistance anyone can give me.

Yea, probably best I don't give my opinion of California. DH & I were stationed there too many years!

I'm sure you've searched about cloudy eye & found a lot of different post made over the years. I found there can be many different reasons. Because the eye hasn't responded to triple antibiotic ointment, it's probably not infection.

When you can, please post another picture of her & if you can, hold her eye gently open while someone takes a picture of her eye ball.
You did great using the form to answer needed questions originally. Please go over the form & post any changes.
Have you ever wormed her? When? Has she delevoped any limp?

Thanks, will try and get another pic.

I've never wormed her and she doesn't have any limp.

I'm going to stop off at the local pet store to see what they have available as far as topical, ointment or drops... maybe something other than what my very small feed store has.

I have been noticing her flockmates are all chasing after her now. Ugh! :(

I havent been able to get a picture, everytime I try she takes off.

I stopped off at PetCo and they actually did have the Vetericyn plus antimicrobial ophthalmic gel. So relieved. I applied it to her eye this afternoon. She was none to happy with me.

I'm hoping and praying it will help. :fl
