one for the books!! **picture added**

I'd shoot the thing but since the rest of the house is in good repair I'd zap it with a welding torch. Gotta show them who's boss!

Wow! What a nice Welcome Home present you got!

Was wondering where you'd been!
What part of Texas are you moving to?

We live in Montgomery/Dobbin just north of Tomball about 20 miles .. DH drives through Tomball going and coming from work everyday!!

I LOVE Tomball .. they have some really good festivals and small-town-like get togethers .. But close to everything..

When I installed a new, better ceiling fan in my living room I had to go into the attic and PROPERLY attach the box to support the weight of a fan. Seems the former owners didn't find that necessary.
I expect to have to do the same thing when I replace the bedroom fans, except I'll probably have to use one of those supports that can be installed from the bottom (ceiling side) because that half of the attic is pretty well blocked off by the central fan unit.

I guess when you move into a place you never know how the ceiling fans are supported, or NOT supported

You might try some arnica or even St. Johns Wort infused oils; usually makes bruises go away in a couple of days
