One gone and one devastated ....what do I do?

Outside mowing the grass earlier with the chickens and ducks free ranging ...the kids were playing on the trampoline right next to them. Went over to check on everyone and my male duckling is gone!!! They are 4 week old Pekins so not too small. The female wont stop hollering for him and I dont know what to do for her. She is sad and so are we.. Where he went missing is by a ditch bank. Should I find her another duck?

I would take a day or so to search for him first. If you don't find him or find him dead, then I would definitely replace him. Ducks like company.

Did your kids say anything about him? Did they have friends over with them?

Kids didn't see anything and I literally was stopping the lawn mower every 30 minutes ...my kids are little so I had a constent eye on them. No friends over and we checked with neighbors. I looked for 2 hours and my husband looked for 3 more but it's after midnight now. I have been laying on the floor with Ming Ming because that's the only way she is calm. It's just so sad.
