Afraid none of mine hatched this time. I will try again though. I have just bought two bluebells , a cross between a Marran /RhodeIsland Red. Sweet natured birds.

Awwwww sorry about all the eggs that didn't make it - BUT I could have told you you would get a cute one hatched on my Birthday!!!!

Oh Joy,
Sorry for that, I was just wondering about your hatch and how you did. Thanks for letting me know.

Yup, try again, for sure.

Cyn, yea, she is for SURE full of personality, more so than most in a chick. I will definitely try for pics today. I have taken a bunch. Just need to get them on the puter and downloaded.

Happy Belated Birthday Chelly!

Well now you dont have that awful temptation to come get a chicken or two! hehe And yes, this lil chick is chock full of vinegar, for sure.
I AM gonna try again, just gotta get fall stuff done and with this bator goin, I am glued to the darned thing. I did ok, at least I didnt not have any hatch, which many many newbies seem to experience from what I have read. And... Any baby is fun!

I saw on the EZ board NebraskaFarmer lost almost all his chickens and wants to buy more, but not sure where he is located. Sounds like he has a very determined predator tho, so would hate to sell him any babies til he gets the prob solved.
I know the girl down the street wanted one or two as pets, but they havent stopped by to check. They may want to wait til spring as well. I dont care about spring so much, as it sure is unhandy they cant go out and play when growing, then throwin them outside cold turkey in the winter weather, without them getting acclimated seems pretty non momlike. Not sure what we will do come winter, I will have to brainstorm, since my silly babies are nitetime house chooks. And if I keep that silly nakeneck, dang..she will need a scarf. No question on Disco, as long as she is a she, I will keep her.

We have something prowling around our coop - the chicks are still inside as well, but I'm worried after seeing footprints in the sand!

I moved my girls onto our patio yesterday, we had a storm come through and I couldn't put them outside, so made another plan as the brooder is so small! Its chilly this morning, so they're getting a slow intro into the cold, which is good! They made a lot of noise as it got dark last night - I put them all in the brooder - which is out on the patio and open so they can now come and go.... they finally settled down, and went to sleep....

I'm getting a couple of new chickens soon - little bantums from a relative about an hour drive from us - they are giving us 3 hens and a little Roo - the hen's just started laying so I'm THRILLED about that, even if the eggs are tiny - it will be SUPER exciting!

I was going to try hatch eggs myself, but I don't have an incubator and I dont' think I could stand the wait! I'm sure my kids would love it!
