Hi,

We've had the same group of 5 chickens for over 1 year and all of the sudden one of the chickens will not join the others to roost in the coop at night. She is perched at the door to the coop when I go to close it and won't let me close the door all the way. She's there again in the morning when I go to open the coop.

Any thoughts/ advice?

Thanks!

How much roost space do you have for the five hens? Sounds like she is the low chicken in the pecking order, or somebody else in the flock has it in for her and she is getting pushed out. You might want to watch and see if you can catch one of the other chickens bothering her. If there is a particular one that is a trouble maker, separating that one for a few days to take her down the pecking order and putting the loner on the perches at night might help. When you say she is perched at the door, she is perched on something, she is not sitting on the floor?
