Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I've never been a Costco member and never cared much for Winco. I pretty much buy only what's on sale at Freddie's and stock up, and a few things at Walmart. I'll start exploring Grocery Outlet more often now. There's one near the Chehalis Walmart.

I splurged today and got a double cheeseburger and fries with Coke at the Sonic in Chehalis today. I went to the ValleyView urgent care center this morning to get my shoulder checked out and decided I deserved a treat.

My shoelace snagged on a screwhead a couple days ago, I went down and landed HARD on my right shoulder. No fractures, no sign of dislocation which is good. But it's impossible for me to lift my upper arm without excruciating pain. Should get better on its own in time.

I am definitely a list shopper, which is why I'm not likely to stop in to any of the bargain stores. It seems I can never find everything I want in one grocery store as it is, so after 2 or 3 stores I'm too tired to go exploring. But I'm a bit jealous of all the great deals you all find.
In our house it works best to plan meals out a week at a time and shop once a week, but that doesn't lend itself to much improvisation. I hate to throw any food out and yet most of my groceries are fresh produce. The local small town stores don't really specialize in that.
I'm the same, I have a list and stick to it, so I generally hit 2 stores in a week but sometimes up to 4. Used to go to farmer's markets frequently but it's kind of a hassle since I have to go out of the way to make it.

I try to shop seasonally when it comes to produce so meals get planned around that. If the garden produces well (not great this year :hmm) then any fresh produce I buy is minimal. Sugar snap peas and lettuce are my current harvest so we've had peas in at least 2 dinners each week for 3 weeks now and large dinner salads for 2 weeks.

I take lists also stick to them make them as the stores I buy them from.
I buy Fresh or frozen veggies, no canned ever.
I buy most at Fuller grocery or Jeremy's fresh.
We rarely eat corn it is at Costco so is broccoli.
Green beans at Cash n Carry.
I was raised on fresh veggies never had anything till I was taken from her.

We eat in season fresh. Canned is for winter and emergencies. I prefer frozen as well.

I need to start canning beans. The texture is perfect for salads and it's cheaper than buying.

That canned flavor I hate in peas and green beans doesn't seem to be in the salt free versions. Texture still sucks.

Frozen peas are the best.

Bolting cabbage???? The biggest one is close to the size of a soccer ball now. They don't seem to be the tight, heavy kind of cabbage heads, but kind of loose and lightweight. I'll know for sure tomorrow when I pick it.

I might be eating a few beets soon. At least one seems to be about 3 inches in diameter.
