One month old chicks ate rubber leg band.........

Hello, I was wondering what will happen to my baby chicks that ate a rubber leg band. I notice that the small rubber band on their legs were getting tight, so I rolled them off and set the rubber down in a corner and before i could remove the rubber bands, I saw them running with them in their mouths and they swallowed it.

Chickens eat alot of weird things. It shouldn't have any trouble passing it, but anythings possible i guess. Maybe give it a little olive oil to help lubricate things.

You’d be amazed at what chicks and chickens will eat. It should be okay. Maybe give it olive oil to help it work it’s way through

Okay thanks, I'll try and put some oil in their crumble, I can't put it their water because I have nipples on my water bottle.

Egg white is better then Olive Oil I believe. Both will lubricate, but I think egg white is better for them in general. For it to do anything though, you have to syringe it into their mouths. It wont do anything mixed in the feed.

Try to seperate it from the others and take a small syringe that will fit in their mouths and feed them a little olive oil to help them pass it

One of ours did that, we named her RB. (Rubber Band). She lived to a ripe old age.
