My little assorted Bantams are 4 1/2 weeks old and the little Barred Cochin started to crow already. Well it is more like a whistle, but very cute.
We are in the process of building a new coop so they are still sleeping in my office at night and spend their days in the chicken tractor. But he only crows in the morning in the office. I was so hoping this was a hen. I only have 1 Barred Cochin out of the 20 chicks and looks like too many roosters, I think at least 7 so far.
My neighbor wondered if he was imitating her rooster crowing that they hear during the day.
What do you think? Isn't he cute?

I love it.... I have some 6 week olds that are croking... Too many roos in my barn too. I think we have some early bloomers in there trying their voices out....

Keep recording him.. it is amazing the transformation.

Aww! Adorable!

My roo has yet to crow and he is almost 13 weeks old. One time when they were still in the house under the heat lamp he made a funny little noise, but nothing since then. I guess I am hoping he stays quiet so we can try to keep him. So far he is gentle and has a great personality.

Thanks for sharing!!

A second one is trying it now! But I am almost positive it is a hen. One on my little Brown Red Old English Game Bantams. She crowed/whistled right after he did it. I heard her do it a couple times.I just can't catch it on video.

So cute! I miss our roo, but all his practice made his crow too loud for the neighbors. We rehomed him to a ranch outside of town. Mornings just aren't the same.

Luckily my neighbor has a rooster and my other neighbor has cows, so neither one cares about the sound. I am just hoping that I do not have too many roosters.

so freakin adorable!!!
