I have 10 chicks that were born april 18th. It has been really warm so I took them all outside to a new run I had just finished. One of my little guys went under my shed! It is at least 15 feet wide and 20 feet deep. I can't reach him/her. I know he can move and I hear him cheeping some. Does anyone have any ideas on coaxing him out? I am afraid he won't survive the night unless I get to it. Also I am pretty sure he is thirsty hungry by now but now luck with dishes set out.

Is the food where the chick can see the brightly colored food dish? And the water? I would think it will come out when it's ready if it "knows which way to go". Be ready to put a light on shining onto the food/water if it's not by dark...

Presumably you've tried to retrieve him/her with a stick? I'd put the other chicks near the entrance, so he can hear them cheeping and maybe move toward that. Also, remember that chicks/chickens are pretty much blind in the darkness, so if there's a way you can light up under the shed, I'll bet it will be able to come out better.

Ditto that. Is Mom around? She should be able to call it out. If not, try making a "mom" sound..."buck buck buck buck". that might work. Good luck.

Thank you so much!!! I got him out, with the help of my son. I think it was putting the other chicks nearby that drew him out. My son stomped on the inside of the shed too and he came straight to the other chicks! I was getting really worried because I know we have coyotes and cats and dogs around that would love a little chicken snack. He was stuck for over 4 hours but now he is out!!!
