One of my baby chicks is sick I think. It is not eating and is just trying to sleep when all the other ones are running around like crazy. Should I separate her but when I do it screams bloody murder. I have been giving it colloidal silver in an eye dropper.

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you joined us! :) Separate her until you figure out why she is sick. Try posting in the "Emergencies/Diseases/Injuries and Cures" section.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

Sorry to hear your chick isn't well. Separating her from the others is a good idea but chickens don't like being alone so try putting a soft stuffed toy in with her for 'company'.

And yes, do post on the emergency/illness forum giving as many details as possible. This link will take you there:

Good luck to you.

You can also put a mirror in with her, so she thinks there is a chick in with her. If she is a baby chick, she probably still needs to be under a brooder lamp. That would be another reason for crying.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! I'm so sorry to hear about your chick! It might calm it down a bit if you fence off a small area of the pen so it can still see the others, but get special care. I would put some electrolytes in it's water and maybe some sugar to perk it up a bit.
