Ive been raising chickens for 5-7 years now and this year I've had a first. Not sure if I should be concerned or not. So I got four day old chicks from the farm store, mow two weeks old. 2 Black Australorps a Isa Brown and a silver laced wyandotte. The issue is one of the Australorps is literally twice the size of the others. Last time I weighed them most are 1.2 oz and the big one is 2.6oz. at first I thought it was bigger because maybe it is a rooster but as they are growing Ive noticed "him" looking chubby and lazier then the others. He will walk (waddles) a little then lay down. He is not lethargic he eats, drinks and seems to act like a normal chick other than laying down a lot, legs are not splayed. They are still under a heat lamp in the brooder on small wood chips, eating store bought feed, clean water daily if not more, no sneezing or other signs of distress. Do I just have a gigantic bird? Lol weight update. I just reweighed them he is 3.6 oz she is 2.1 so not double anymore but still a big size difference.

I've got some 6 week old chicks at the moment and 3 are the same breed (Marans X Legbars) one of the chicks was twice the size of the other two within a few days if hatching.
By 6 weeks he was still significantly bigger, same feathering rate just much bigger!
I wonder why this is happening? Ive been reading a lot of people are having this happen. Mine still have a.big difference in size.

Update my Black Australorp that was twice the size of ita flock mates is still twice the size of the rest. I think I just have a HUGE bird. He is not as lazy as he used to be he doesnt lay around as much. I am concerned that i might jave 3 roosters out of the 5 chicks.

Could it be a Jersey Giant?

Our Asian black grew much faster than our barred rock, but eventually they seemed to level out

Chick Pic of them is when they were around 2.5 weeks old AB on left and BR on right

Another pic around 5.5 months old (I know not the best view) but you can see same AB and BR) as well as a LH
