I'm new here and I have several handicapped and injured ducks and ducklings that I am caring for. Why not baker's yeast? What's the difference? I supplement their feed with probiotics, greens, and grit. I also put nutradrench in their water. Thank you.
I don't think baking yeast is the same thing. . baking yeast makes bread raise. I would imagine it might blow their little bellies up cause they can't pass gas.
Every morning they have about an hour outside time including a kiddie pool. I have switched them to full outside all day yet as our area has a lot of hawks, racoons, and occasionally coyotes. We live right across the street from a creek so many of these animals travel down the creek. The kiddie pool is deep enough for them to clean and wash themselves, and their water bowl is about deep enough. They may grow out of the bowl soon though so I should upgrade. They are eating man different plants and weeds, so that may be a reason for their grainy watery poop.
She is doing much better, thank you. Her and her sister's poops even seemed a little more solid. I added some nutritional yeast to their food, and they have been eating very well. Thank you very much for all your help.
At this point they are only eating about 1.5 cups a day. I take their food out overnight so it doesn't draw pests. This would mean I have to add about 1/4 cup of nutritional yeast per day. As that is a lot of yeast, I was wondering if there is a yeast that you can buy especially for birds, maybe a cheaper variant that is still safe for them.
Yes...That's why the poop is different...I understand the concern about predators but they will still be an issue even when the Ducks mature...I have secure runs for my Birds with tops and only free range if My Dogs are out and I sit with them....
There isn't really a way to make our side yard (The duck yard) completely covered. There is also no way that somebody could be out here every day all day. There is lots of tree and plant cover, do you think that would be sufficient? I can post a picture of the yard if that would help.
Yes post a picture....Quality of life is more important than constant confinement...
