One of my girls, Lavern, was sitting on the ground today. She looked all wet and smelled pretty badly. I thought she got wet from all the rain we have had. When my grandson went to check and see if she was sitting on an egg, she kind of fell over. I checked to see if she maybe had an egg stuck. There was none. Her back area appeared clean. I checked her winds and legs and they too seemed to be ok. But then I felt her crop and it felt a bit hard. I put food and water before her and she refused it, but I was able to get her to open her mouth and give her water so she got a few mouthfulls. Can chickens get a plugged crop? If so, how do I unplug it?

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks
Colette

you could try pouring a bit of olive oil down her throat and massage her crop a bit until the mass in her crop loosens up.

If you are unsure which hole in the back of the throat to put the olive oil, please don't do this. If it goes into her lungs it's usually fatal..
