One of these things are not like the others!

Our chihuahua loves the chicks and they love her she has been with them every step of the way since they were just eggs in the bator

OMG what a cute dog!! I wonder if them being exposed to the eggs first has something to do with it? Does make you wonder, and both dogs are female hmmmm....

My husband's grandparents hunt with their lab. One day they were on a picnic and he went off in the woods. He came back with a chicken (didn't hurt it at all, soft mouth). Grandpa took it out of his mouth and the chicken took off running back home. A few minutes later, back came the lab with the chicken. So, they tied him up. The chicken ran home. When they were getting ready to leave a few hours later he ran off, got the chicken one more time. Poor chicken. He had to run all the way home again. Never did see where the chicken lived. LOL

Sorry, just had to share that.

Wow you sure have a good JRT there! Mine is ok as long as they are in the pen but I sure wouldnt trust her if they were out running/flapping around

mind you she has cateracts now so she missed seeing the baby bird fluttering under a chair on our front porch but something as big as a chicken? Hmmmmmm....not so safe

My SIL has a JRT named Pea(nut). They're just a field and lake away from us, so come to visit fairly often (so the dogs can play in the lake together). It really surprised me how quickly that little hyper dog learned to ignore my chickens. She'll eat their feed and their poop on occasion, but doesn't bother the chickens at all
