Its one of those times again, I feel like all I do is meant with resistance. A challenge by the universe of my willingness to persevere, but things could be worse, the family members are all healthy. What more could one ask for?
I have been fighting a case (or 10) of fur mites in our meat rabbit breeders! I will be calling the vet today, all my attempts to control have been met with resistance. I've used ivermectin topical and kitten flea powder as suggested by well known meat breeders. Anyway, on to the real reason I am tapping into the knowledge of this place! On Thursday I found this on my coop floor, I have examined for injuries and found none. I have a broody hen and thought maybe she pushed a egg out to the floor.. they are all there( I marked and counted). So I started Corid. I have no idea what to make of this, I haven't found any more. I do have a couple girls with more runny poop, and have seen some with bubbles on the poop. I had to do a mite treatment, We dipped the birds in elector PSP (the spraying is so tedious) and they look better on that end. What do you all think? Its strange, the smears and the clean spot in the center, did the chickens kill something? I will stay the course with corid and plan to worm soon as routine.. but it has been postponed because I do not want to mix meds. PS also been getting funky eggs, misshapen.. thin shell and shell less: 14 hens and 7 eggs a day at best. Flock is mixed with oldest hen 4yrs, then 6 at 2yrs and 7 at 1yr and one rooster at 3 years...We have been very rainy, and temps all over the place……..
I free range part time, feed Purina flockraiser crumbles, offer grit and oyster. They get scratch 1-2 times a week. Any suggestions on what is up with the photo and how to up egg production would be appreciated!
