I have one chick that finally popped a bit this is day 22 and I need to know if I should intervene to ensure survival.
I think they're shrink wrapped in there...not entirely sure. I added more hot water yesterday on day 21 because I had no signs of hatching and this incubator isn't 100% accurate as I've learned. I'm praying the others survive.Intervening is not necessary unless there is an actual issue. It is a delicate process and if done to early or improperly it can result in death of the chick. It can take 24 hours for them to go from pip to zip so give him time.
It sat that same way for more than 12 hours. If the membrane is brown and crusty and the chick sounds distressed it could be shrink wrapped. Now, the membrane does get a little dry were the pip is so don't confuse it. Here is an article https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/guide-to-assisted-hatching-for-all-poultry.72886/.
