It’s Autumn in New Zealand and I have 4 Japanese Cortunix Quails. One Male three Females. They live in a quail hutch but are about to be moved into a new enclosure. Only one of my females is laying and she’s laying one of those bumpy pale eggs. I’ve put more nutrition on her diet but is there something else? I don’t know which one lays the eggs.

How old are they? When did you get them (if you bought them)? They could be molting or slowing down for the fall, does their feed have calcium in it?
They were born last year in September from eggs their food doesn’t have much calcium but does feeding them their eggshell work?

Feeding eggshells can work they eat it.

What exact feed do you feed them?

You do know that by moving them you will put off laying more, right?

Yes thank you it’s been a day since they’ve moved and I’m still getting the one bumpy egg

Itll take longer than a day for them to settle, plus with fall closing in I'd pretty much say the eggs you're getting is pretty normal.. you could always try to get/hatch more quail and sell of extra come spring next year?
