One quail trying to kill the rest

Perhaps it's time to rehome Magic. You may be right. She may be expressing her grief as a wish to be the only little quail. Is there somewhere you can send her where you can still know how she's doing? Perhaps a friend with a child needing a pet, or an elderly friend who lives alone?

Change manifests itself differently with different people. There's no reason to think that doesn't happen with quail too.

You now have four in one cage that get along, three hens and a roo. That's a fresh start for you. Now Magic may need a fresh start too.

I have a male Italian (buff) like that. Every month or so I try to introduce him to another group and it is always instant pandemonium , So, back he goes to solitary confinement. He's been in solitary so long I know him better than any quail ever. Maybe he'll go to the freezer; maybe not.
