My little Picotine has one shut eye and wondering what it is, if it's contagious and how to treat.
Symptoms: slightly lethargic
Signs: Right Shut Eye does open every once in a while, yellow ring of eye is slightly reddened, some translucent goo on eyeball and that is it. No swelling, no bleeding, normal poops, eats and drinks, no respiratory issues detected nor spots etc.
Steps taken so far, applied visine every 6-8 hours over one day and fed her electrolytes with syringe thinking she may be dehydrated (Monday to Wednesday), Wednesday afternoon applied human eye antibiotic cream over eyelid. Reapplied again this morning after flushing with visine. She has been segregated just in case if it's contagious.
First time with pet chickens and I fell like I'm being a mother hen and should let her be with the others
Has anyone seen this before and if so how did you treat? Or is this a "normal occurrence"?
