One smoke free day...........

I'm so proud of you for taking this first step, Luvmychicknkids!

My husband smoked, but quit about 18 years ago, and he did it just the way that you are. He just decided it was time, did it one day at a time, and is a non-smoker to this day.

I know it's difficult, but you have great reasons to do it, and I believe in you.

Congrats!!!! You are doing a very good thing for your children!!!! They want you to be around for a very long time. Best of luck!!!

I to have watched the lung cancer death it's not pretty. One thing I have learned with my quiting and with talking to other people is no matter who they are or why THEY tell you to quit you can only quit when YOU are ready to quit. I send all the courage and determination you need to accomplish your goal to be smoke free. Like you said small baby steps one at a time

Congrats! You've gone the hard step which is telling people, but that is also one of the most helpful.

You have a great support group here. Just come post on BYC and chew on some carrot sticks when you get the urge.

Good job. The first thing you did right was waiting until you decided it was time. It is always harder when you feel forced. Keep it up. Your doing great.

I, to, was a smoker for 26 long years. I started smoking at the age of 9 by meer peer pressure from a family member. But on Sept. 22 of 2006, and I give my Lord and Savior all the glory for it, I prayed that He would take the taste and the desire for a cigg. away from me for good, and guess what, He did. It was nothing of me but it was the Lord. I know some may not want to read this but I'm sorry I have to give Jesus the credit for what He has done in my life.

For several years all my kids wanted for Christmas was for me to quit smoking and for many years I gave them the gift of dissappointment. But, today, going on 1 1/2 years later I am still smoke free and plan to stay that way. I also had help through an addictions program called Reformers Unanimous. It's a Christ centered addictions program. Check to see if you have one in your area. Or go online to reformu.com

And to chicknlovinkids I will wish you blessings, for it's better than luck. I will personally keep you in my prayers for I know the battle that stands before you. Stay strong and seek help from the Lord. Thanks for reading.

I so seldom hear of people that have actually quit smoking are or in the process of doing so. I was thrilled to read all these posts!

Congrats to each of you that's done it!

Luvmychicknkid - you can do this. You've got great support here and have already taken the hardest step.

I'll keep you in my prayers for your success.
