all 3 went thru molt, they started laying again in the last few weeks. i'm only getting 2 eggs per day out of 3 hens you think she's spent she's only 3 maybe. or is it on a individual basis when they will lay again ?

How old are birds and what breed?
Don't often get X eggs from X chickens in a single day, unless they are high production breeds.
And it can be an individual thing too.

3 hens.
All 3 are stars or red sex link. It's that red with white flake pattern.

Around 3 yrs old maybe.

RSL lay lots of eggs for a couple years, then slow way down or stop altogether, IIRC. So, it could be the breed.

3 year old sexlinks may be done....they are high production birds that lay prolifically for a few years then can drop off sharply.

Always like the barred rock....those might be replacements .

I remember now. When got them last dec the owner had alot of them ,he said there all near 1 yr. So this winter will be they'll be around 2. Gotta few year left I hope.

Maybe one more year...I'd line up your replacements.

At 18 months, mine molt and then take the winter off. they start back up again in the spring. this has been my experience with most breeds. I don't use any supplemental lighting.
