One thing I Love about ducks is...

I AGREE WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE POSTS!!
I LOVE IT WHENEVER THEY TURN THEIR HEADS WITH EAR SIDE UP & LISTEN INTENTLY TO A NOISE THEY HEAR!
I LOVE IT WHEN OPEN THEIR MOUTHS & CLOSE THEM WITHOUT A SOUND TO EXPRESS THEIR HAPPINESS AS IF TO SAY "AHH LIFE IS GOOD"

....Because unlike most other birds they imprint. They make me laugh and are so adorable, even as adults. They are super interested in us, I'd go as far as calling them affectionate. Mine will sit in my lap and fall asleep, harass me for treats, and yell for me if they feel unsure of something.

When they quack surprisingly when I'm "able" to kind of sneak up on them. It's like they're saying "Well, HI THERE!"

...that Tail wag.
Yes! ...and the way they regroup and hold a loud and vigorous discussion after I let down a duck I was holding. It's as if they're saying, "Okay, Jane, are you okay? Darcy, you here? Lizzy? Okay, I think we're all here. Wow, I really wish she wouldn't do that. Are you sure you're okay? What happened?"

mine do not "coop up" at night, but gather in a large group to sleep at the top of my circular driveway in the light from the local utility pole. Safety in numbers. (there are 26 of them.)

They often go for midnight swims in the pond I had built for my waterfowl.

At night, they must tell each other some pretty good duck jokes, because they'll suddenly break into ducky laughter. "Ah yuck yuck yuckity yuck yuckity yuck yuck yuck!"

I used to go running outside to see what was wrong and they all looked at me like I was breaking in on a private duck party.

They also bill the plastic dog house used for broody ducks.... Well... Planned for broody ducks, but nobody has taken me up on that plan yet. But when 2 or 3 ducks bill heavy plastic at the same time, it sounds like a Duck Drum Circle.
