Ongoing Brahma Projects Thread

We purchased a Buff Brahma Bantam last year and fell in love with her. We added her to a flock of 19 other various different kinds of chickens. She was a tough little gal and so beautiful. She was our favorite. She became a broody hen and hatched 2 different batches of eggs. She was the best mama to the babies. We did not have to worry about the babies at all. 2 days ago, she disappeared. We thing a bird of prey got her. This really hurt to lose her. We would like to have more of her breed. We are looking in the Dickson, TN area. Does anyone have any for sale? We would feel so blessed to get 1 or 2 of her breed.

My husband saw a chicken hawk last night that tried to get some of our other chickens. I am sure he got her. Don't think she is hiding
somewhere. She would not have left the little ones to fend for themselves Still looking to get some more of the Brahnam Bantams if anyone has any.

Dickson bird lady We are in east, TN our Buff Brahma Bantams are from Dick Horstmans line but they are not laying yet, hopefully soon, I do have an extra Cockerel

Latest side project. Some under laced birds showed up in my blue laced red chicks. The male here caught my eye early on, very bright color, almost irradeciant metalic look to his shoulders in the sunlight.


I penned him up with some of the darker under laced pullets, and some blue lights.



I think this guy may be my favorite male, personality wise. Very good with his hens, definately has lost weight since going into the breeding pen. I don't think he ever eats any treats or scraps, although he has ample opportunity, always calls the girls over and drops it for them.

Guess I should add that my end goal is a blue red columbian, really kind of preferring the splash version at this point of the project.

A very flashy roo! I really like the shade of red on him and your hens.

Another thing I like about this pen is their chicks hatch like popcorn.

It looks like some are white laced red?
Could you please explain what constitutes a Columbian?
New to these beautiful Brahmas and hooked, but all the different terms are confusing
Is there a book you can recommend?
