Ongoing Quilt Projects, Continued from the "No Appreciation...." Thread

The HandiQuilter was in my price range and perfect for what I do. Still an investment, but well worth it for me.
I've spent a fortune on hobbies over the years, if you use something and get a lot of enjoyment, the only issue is whether you can afford it and whether you want to direct money to it. I don't really care about spending money on things to use, I wouldn't like spending it on "nothing" (entertainment where you've nothing tangible to show for it). It's fair to say that a quilting machine in Western Australia would never recover a fraction of its cost, even if you sewed your little heart out and offered work for sale. Maybe in Tasmania where it gets cold, but here, no.
Interestingly, someone local is selling a Handiquilter (sweet sixteen) I didn't recognize the brand before you posted. They are asking AU$6,000 for it.
Now I am looking to upgrade
I'm really not too sure what the pricier machines offer over the basic. I can see the value of the longarm and the frames, but watching the fellow using his singer treadle, it doesn't seem like you need too much. It's interesting to investigate.

Suggestions for the middle of the stars?
Maybe number 35 Poinsettia? You could do the petals "fatter"? I think it sort of looks "spacey"https://leahday.com/pages/quilting-design-gallery

It was over AU$20,000. Yes, seriously.

Not sure what $20,000 AU is. They are pricey and there ae varying prices depending on the make and model. Mine APQS Millie was $16,000 in 2001. Strictly hand guided not computerized. I love it. A 14 foot table that easily holds a king. I haven't looked at prices for awhile. I bought it with an insurance settlement from a work injury.

My son made a suggestion for pebbling the center of the yellow stars, and though it was a little much as a whole, I decided on a modified version of it for the center of the stars. I may need to do more quilting in the heart to "de-pouf" it more or I could leave it puffy in the middle. This works, I think.

You can get one directly from HQ for the same price. Comes with full warranty

That may be where I saw it, Terrie. Those are demo models, it says. So, what do you think of that machine? It has an 11" throat space, not sure if I'd use many of the fancy things on it since I have no clue how to use all those feet it comes with. It may be complete overkill. I mean, I use one stitch, maybe zigzag when I make chicken saddles and that's it. It has 170.

Here we go again! I am talking to a woman over Facebook who bought one of my hand quilted table runners about a bed quilt. She wants the Sunny Stars quilt if my other friend decides she won't take it. But, she also is discussing getting a quilt in the future if the other is sold. Then, some other woman pops in, I have no idea who she is, and says to this person, "get out your sewing machine, you can do it, but if you're like me, been there, done that". WTH? I thought that was very rude! Yeah, like anyone can make a quilt as good as someone with 30 years experience quilting and no, I didn't just sew straight lines across with my walking foot, it's free motion, which I'm not expert with by any means, but you can't just "do it" like it's nothing! GRRRRR!!!!

In agree that was very rude and disrespectful.

Shoot I will be overjoyed if I can even make a few blocks that fit together.

She needs a :smack.
