Ongoing Quilt Projects, Continued from the "No Appreciation...." Thread

My husband bought this solid wood table to make me a drop-in machine table with-the top is almost 2" thick. They wanted $80 for it and considering the shape, not bad, really. It's not in bad shape at all, though someone in tiny letters carved the name "Landon" in the top very subtly, LOL. I know only one Landon-Yard full 'o Rocks has a son by that name. I wonder.....
Comparing the two tables, our former dining table I am using now is a normal 60x36. This one is 50x30 with a pedestal base rather than having 4 sided frame with legs in each corner underneath and a top that is about 1" thick. He's investigating how to do it the way it needs to be done now. Will have to do more rearranging in the room since this is a different size than the other table.

I will be watching to see how that comes out, Cyn.

In the meantime, I am looking forward with anticipation to my "girl trip" to Oregon. I thought I had settled on a new Brother DreamWeaver machine, but really like the look of the HQ Stitch 710. The only thing I know for sure I am bringing home now is fabric. Haha!

You obviously know that Angela Walters uses the HQ710 in her videos, nice machine! I'd love one of those myself.

Yes, I love quilts with half square triangles, but HATE marking them, which I need to do to get them straight and tidy.
I was looking at one which has "flying geese" that I liked. With that laser line, you could just run a whole heap through the machine without having to draw on them all. I suppose if you were familiar with your machine and it "ran straight" and had a decent foot to judge the seams by, you could do it without the line or drawing on them, but it wouldn't hurt to make things really accurate and save a lot of time.
Unfortunately, the laser line seems to only come on the most expensive (as in "remortgage your house" expensive). All the features I've seen so far and gone "oh wow, I'd like that" only come on the machines that cost the same as a small aircraft. :D

That is the feature I most like on the one I am considering. You would think that being so high end, they would do laundry and make coffee.
