Ongoing Quilt Projects, Continued from the "No Appreciation...." Thread

This was one idea, the partial flying geese border. Helps if you have an off-size piece to border.

I put another more narrow border on this current project with the new machine. I got it figured out as far as the bobbin, threading it, using the auto needle threader, etc, which 1/4" piecing foot to use, etc. The lighting is SO much better than the Brother!! I did need to sit higher on my stool to be really at the proper level since this is a taller from the table machine.
I may do a flying geese border variation for the next round instead of what I was going to do. That way, I can use more of the coordinating fabrics. Plus, I could also do a partial flying geese, with sections of plain fabric, geese going different directions, etc.

It is really coming together! Looking beautiful!

And I have all the flying geese units done, just have to assemble them. Have to decide on the corners. Instead of a pieced corner, I think maybe just a dark blue square to anchor the round may work well and of course, it brings the blue back in. That will kill the rest of that super dark blue fabric (so pretty!) and make the entire thing about 95" square. Then, I may have enough of the mottled blue to use to run a border around that and then, who knows?

Here is how it would look with the dark blue corner squares.

Echo chamber...helloooooo...hellohello? LOL. Everyone is very busy these days, me included, but boy, this heat already. We're in one of those afternoon storm patterns where it stays humid most days, but today was so dry and breezy. Wish it would repeat a few more days, but no such luck! The nice person who sold me the Janome sent me her email so we could talk back and forth about our projects and offered any help she could give on using the machine. I'm putting on my flying geese units now.

I really like the flying geese border... the dark corner looks rather stark in the picture (I think due to angle and lighting though). The corners do work well with the inner blue patterns. Will be interested in seeing how the border gives it the finishing touch.

What about a square-in-a-square with my focus floral fabric as the center and the dark blue as the corners for the corners on this round? Like this block-it would be less stark and bring back my pretty floral fabric:
