I like this one much better! Though if it is easy enough you should play with your choice of fabrics to see if your other thought translates as well when used. Never hurts to experiment.Mock-up in place. I could do the corners in the other blue if it would look better and not use more of the dark blue at all (that is so pretty, wish I'd gotten another yard of it).

I looked again, definitely try the other blue... have you decided on the outer border yet? You may use one blue for the corners and the other as a piping type accent as a border, material yardage may be a deciding factor. I love both of the blues, so either would work, I think.
I understand what you mean, and it makes sense when following the progression from center out.
I often hesitate to offer too much opinion, sort of like being an 'armchair quarterback' when you are the one doing the work... and I can't offer anything on the methodology or equipment side, but I hope you don't mind the occasional requests for different colors or layouts. It doesn't seem fair for me to request you end up doing even more, lol.
