But seriously--Nadine, I would agree the deadline should be moved back a couple weeks since you missed a couple weeks online so word didn't get spread as much. It'd be fun to see more chicken "steeds."

And BluRoo really needs to share with us a photo of her chicken "stud" in his manly-style saddle. And I vote that if she won't, she gets army-volunteered to judge the contest!

Yes, you may ask! And the answer is that I don't know where she came from. I bought her and 2 others at my local feed store and was told that they were brown leghorns. Well, once they grew up, I saw a real brown leghorn and realized that my leghorns didn't look anything like that. So I started looking around the net for birds that looked like mine and discovered that they were Speckled Sussex!
My guess is that they came from a hatchery in New Mexico called Privett. Most of the feed store birds around here come from there. She has a curled toe, so I don't know how good her stock is.
I have seen breeders on BYC that sell them. And quite a few hatcheries do, too.

Isn't she cute in her saddle. She only had a small bare spot on her back, but I couldn't bear to see that beautiful hen get picked at.

If the contest continues, I have other pics now that I do have my saddles from Moodene.
