🐝💗Our Backyard Beekeeping Journey!💗🐝

We have (3) 5 frame nuc boxes from buying bees and bee stuff. One is plastic, just like what you have, and the other two are coroplast. (In case someone doesn't know: Coroplast is like corrugated cardboard, but thicker and made out of plastic.) We used them to bring the honey frames back to the house yesterday.

Would they work for capturing a swarm, if we should need to?

I saw some lemongrass oil in the store and bought it; I've read it's a good lure for catching a swarm. It would be nice not to need to buy bees again. They aren't cheap. We paid $200 for a locally raised nuc in May. I am not complaining about the price, just commenting.
Make splits and sell them or what I like to do is give them to beginners since its expensive for them to start.
That is really nice. Thank you for doing this.

There are people in our club who raise and sell nucs (where we got ours), so I'd be hesitant to give away a colony and take away their business. But I'd also be hesitant to sell them when I don't know much about what I'm doing.

Extracting Day and Murphy showed up. Snapped the head off the nylon hex bolt on one of the 5 gal bucket gate snugging down "just one more turn". Not to worry, have more FG 5 gal buckets with no gate holes.
Oh no, that sounds about right...lol Hope the rest of your extraction goes well.
