I just caught about 45 big chickens and 9 mostly grown muscovy ducks to take to the sale.I got all of the hatchery new hamps so they would not mix with with the new hamps with the german blood lines.

Good job, Coach! I have three cages full and plan to catch more in the morning. I am sorry, I can't stand muscovies, they are like rats in Florida. They used to poop all over our front yard. I don't think anyone actually owned them, they were just all over down there. But I like those green mini ducks, whatever they are. My friend in Selmer has them.Guess I ought to get some sleep since I need to get up at 6 am:p

Well the load of chickens brought 217-53 bucks commission .We need to start a chicken sale. The 20%commission is hard to take,i guess i'll try craigslist next time.I did good this time i only came home with a pair of bantam blue splash cochins to go with my one lemon blue pullet, also went to my's wifes bosses pool party and had a better time that i thought i would. The boss lives in a million dollar house really pretty but it was more like living in a public building. You know marble floors 7 bathrooms and two people living in it.Just think if we had a house like that we could sell it and but a whole lot of chickens!!! ps we didn't get home until 9 pm long day starting at 7 am

Yeah, my husband said I should run a sale barn since Henderson doesn't have one. At least at the TSC sale there is no fee to set up. I sold 12 chicks and 4 big Ameraucanas, those chickens everyone wanted since they were blue. I had 3 buyers that wanted them.Too bad I didn't have more to sell. I brought home 8 chickens, 3 silkies, 3 polish and a pair of giant cochins. I was needing a cochin roo, so I was quite happy to see them. It was a good day, nice weather. Had a good nap this afternoon. I needed it after getting up at 6 am.

Well I don't know if this new dog is going to work out. Started in running around after the goats, but didn't try to bite them. Then she took off toward the chickens, same deal. I just let her off the chain for the first time. I think maybe she is just young and goofy. At least she is staying inside the fence for now. We will see.

It's hard to say about the dog. My dog chases the goats but we sort of trained her to. She helps round up the goats and is protected of them. She likes to sometime go flying right Thur a flock of chickens or ducks just for the fun of it and her and the geese fight all the time,But if a goose bites her she yelps and runs. She chases the emu and the emu chases her but that is a whole other story.we went to a wedding most of the day so i didn't get much done. The guys re-roofing our house saved me some of the best old shingles so i can use them on some chicken coops.

She does go under fences now, went all over the property checking it out today. But at least she hasn't tried to go back to her former home. And she is hanging out with the goats. I think maybe she is part lab retriever. DH has started shooting squirrels , they pulled all the apples off our tree. So he took one out today and I gutted it for the chickens but they ignored it . So I guess I need to cut it up more next time. He was going to leave it in the woods, but I figure that's just feeding varmints.
I worked more on the mini coop today . I have three sides on, and framed up the door today. I will also need to build a nest box, probably a double would work.
Clumsy me, fell over the hose today and landed hard on a big root so I should have a nice big bruise by morning. Had my hands full with feed bucket, scoop. Guess I am over the hill for sure. At least no broken bones.

I'm tripping over the wall stones laying in the yard all the time. Luckily i haven't fell yet---i gotta get the stone work done---but now i'm working on coops.Winter is coming!!!

Yes, fall is here, leaves are falling off trees already. I am planning a big hatch to replace some older layers. This way the chicks can get big before it gets too cold. And when the quail eggs get here I will hatch them as well.
I also need coops , have birds that need to get out of the grow out pens! Heck, some of them are laying eggs already! I was hoping for a cool day today but no such luck. At least I have some materials in hand. I am going to convert the old creep feeder I made into a duplex coop. It's just behind the barn, on the other side of the fence from Chicken City. The roof needs replaced but the frame is good. The door needs new hinges, the goats beat it up. And I need to clean the barns and repair shelters for the goats. Not getting far on the barbed wire project. Plus I need to clean and finish the insulated chick room. Oh dear, and clean the garage and build walls for the pottery studio. Help!
