Only 2 chicks?

We have a rooster and 8 hens, and plan on keeping one of the babies we hatch this summer and one porcelain D’uccle from our friend so we can sell our current rooster and two of our (not so nice) birds. Is two enough if we hand raise them and introduce them into our flock when they’re older? My daughter will most likely spend 24/7 with them... only 2? Or do you think we should plan on getting 3?

Plan to get 3 in case one dies so there isn't a lonely one

I agree with 3, I think that having 3 will make sure that you have room if one randomly dies.

I’d also say go for 3, just in case something happens, so there’s a flock mate close in age
