Looks like either way will work for you- choose the way that seems easiest for you. I've got an automatic turner, because my work shifts are rotating, and it's easier for me. When I turned by hand, I had them lying flat, marked X and O on either side, and rolled from one to the other several times a day.

What I do in winter is a whole lot of nothing! Here in Ohio it snows and snows and snows. Cold dark and dreary, outside only to shovel the driveway to go to work. I usually cook more in the winter, my children sometimes go snowboarding or ice skating. We mostly just stay indoors and wait for spring. Here's a look out my back door this past February.

@ riven : yap, i always wash my hands using "det**l" (i won't promote any mark), i think in USA that antiseptic also well known. i wash then i dry using towel and turning those beloved eggs, OMG, i loved the eggs and i'm wondering i have a bunch of chickens when turning them. thanks for the suggestion.

OMG, i'm really really jealous, i even never sled, ski and ice skate, that's will be very2 amazing and challenging. i think i need to pray on christmas eve to move the snow just for one night to my house backyard.

ew, is that not "good or happy" to "have" or "feel" cool? in my country we need many and many air conditioner to keep cool because its hot hot so hot here. i think cool is better than hot.

wew, chickens? freezing? so the chickens can't stand the winter? they don't have self-defense to protect them from being freeze? when it's winter how is the temp outside? hmm, the good is you don't need any fridge to keep your beverages/fruit/meat from "decay".

Your original post was made @ 3:13 in the morning. I see the community is waking up now. Here's my method. I cut the bottom out of each egg holder in the carton.(For air flow) Then I just tip the entire carton up on it's side. I just rest it on the side of the bator.

Mulia: I put my eggs on their sides in the incubator because I feel it is more natural as to how a hen would incubate her eggs. I also feel that I get a better 'turn' on the eggs than when I had the chicken eggs in a carton and just tipped the incubator to turn.

I feel that, even though I lose some heat when I open the incubator to roll the eggs, it is worthwhile because the turn is of a better quality. LOL. Now, we'll have to see how well the babies hatch to determine...maybe I should keep a journal because I will always have to hatch my own quail because they won't brood their own babies.

Here in Canada we get lots of snow too. I love it!

Sometimes the kids get tired of the snow and want to stay inside and bug the parents. But I like the snow and enjoy shovelling the walkways. It's cold, quiet and good time to think. Usually it's sunny too, so it's cheerful work.

But we go sledding, skating, play winter sports like lacrosse and hockey.

Lots to do in all seasons!

@ Emilys3guppies : yes, of course, i also turn all of them (total : 31) by hand because i think it will preserves the "sense" of mother (father) that turning her beloved eggs, exactly like the mom hens done.

fall : means the trees leaf started fall ???
summer : hot season???
winter : snow falling and cool???
autumn : trees started growing again???

and is canada part of great britain? and pay tax for great britain? which one is true (great britain, england, kingdom of britain or else?)
