Only piles of feathers sherlock

Heard a bit of a rustle, ran out into the backyard, and found one of my chickens hiding. The other was gone. Found about 3 piles of feathers in a small vicinity, but no blood, and no trace of feathers anywhere else.

So... I'm betting on a Hawk... maybe ? Can they fly away with chickens ?

There are also Possums, Stoats, and dogs in the area... but, couldn't find any tracks, and would have expected at least a trail of feathers, or some blood.

Any ideas ? Need to find my other chicken a friend now !

hawks can very well take off with a chicken, depending on the size of both birds. The feathers get pulled out by the predators when they try to catch them though, so I would probably lean more towards dog in this case. I am not sure what a stoat is though. You probably wouldn't find a trail of feathers, just feathers where whatever it was caught the chicken, and then more feathers wherever it decides to eat it. Sorry about your chicken.
