We have an addition on our barn that just opened up about a month ago. We had some calves in there & they got big enough to be let out to pasture with the others.

I'm not very keen on having 30 chickens in this area, as it is a little smaller than I'd like... but we should have the coop done by this weekend, so they won't be in there for too long.

Oh wow, don't you just love it when deals like this just seem to fall into your lap. Congrats! Can't wait to see the pics of your new feathered family.

I was hoping you weren't going to have 30 house chickens until it was done!!

OK, well... here they all are. I've got some real beauties, I think. I'm in love with all the Brahmas & Cochins already, they are SO sweet (and they're all right around a year old)! The guy only had one beautiful white Silkie & a few young Ameracaunas - he unfortunately didn't want to part with them. I guess he's keeping a select few as pets. Which is nice - I know he actually cares about his birds. Boy, were these guys spoiled - they had a HUGE run & fresh fruit/snacks galore.

I'm trying to think what I have - I never did get to count how many I ended up with... I was too excited to worry about numbers! *heh*
- 2 Light Brahmas
- 2 Buff Cochins
- 2 Black Cochins
- 1 Blue Cochin
- 1 White Cochin
- 1 Barred Rock
- 1 or 2 Silver-Laced Wyandottes
- a few Red/Golden Sex-Links
- a few RIRs
- some Black Jersey Giants, I believe
- and various others that I'm not sure of
....feel free to list those you might see

Edit :: Counted them -- we got 29 birds. That ain't too bad, me thinks!

Sorry about the quality of the pics - it was getting late when we finally got home with them. I figured, since it was so close to roosting time, I shouldn't stress them out even more by getting pics of each individual one. Now I can't wait for tomorrow to get here so I can spend some time getting to know them & seeing exactly what I got.
