o and whats normally a better broody? standard or bantam? id imagine bantam...but itd be cool to get standard so i could fit more eggs in there....or both...maybe....omg ..... this is not good..... what am i doing/saying?!

There is no Standard size Silkie. Silkies are only available in bantam sizes, although some can be a little larger than others depending on the breeder whom you get them from. Silkies are considered a "True" bantam, in that they weren't bred down from larger birds.

Oh and in the US their is only one size of silkie, MEDIUM, in the UK there are BIG, and BANTY but in the US they are in between those two sizes......

I was in the 'silkies are ugly' group at first myself, but after you have some you will wonder what took you so long to get them!! They are absolutely the sweetest little birds!!
But if you really don't like them, and you want a good brooder, get some old english game hens, they'll set anything too, plus they are bigger, so they can set more eggs than a teeny tiny silkie! But if you want something that actually wants you to hold and love on it, best to get some silkies

Even as eggs they are cute

, cute little brown eggs. (I have 8 in the bator now) You should get one, maybe two or three.....
