Oops. DH doesn't know...

Quote:
He got home last night from his trip and this morning went through the bank statements. There was an ebay statement for the eggs. Not a peep, so to speak.

He was more concerned about a check I had wrote for chicken feed because he didn't recognize the vendor's name (he'll be okay with it -- he knows I buy feed from that place, he just doesn't know the alternate name they use).

We were talking about not counting our chickens before they hatch this morning as a joke and I pointed out that's so true with eggs. (He knows). I'll be stunned if I get a 50% hatch, but you never know.

What will happen is he'll see the chicks and ask what breed they are 'cause they're so cool looking. I'll be honest: Merriams. He'll wonder about that a while.

I could tell him I got them because he thought turkeys were cool...

LMAO! NOOOOOOO, you don't tell him that it was because he thought turkeys were cool! You tell him "Here honey, I got these for you!" Then continue excitedly, " I just knew you would love them, I knew it when you went on and on about how cool you thought turkeys were and I am so glad that they hatched because it has been soooooo hard to keep this from you knowing just how excited you would be! "

This is too funny! My DH asked if I had any more chicks hatch (just two so far from the first batch). I replied I hadn't, but there were going to be a hatch next week, a marans hatch and a turkey hatch. He nodded. I replied, "you did hear me about the turkey hatch?" Him: "Yes, I did."

Hahaha I love this thread. My hubby gave up a long time ago with me. But he knew what he was in for. When we first met I had just moved out of my parents house and lived in a crappy apartment with a bunch of roommates. We each had our own rooms and in my little room I had 2 snakes, 1 iguana, 4 rabbits, 12 rats, 8 mice, and 6 cats. Soooooo he knew he had it coming. He used to talk about how much he hated animals but now he tells our dogs he loves them and you should hear him brag about all the animals when he is out in public. I love how men have a tendency of complaining about stuff and not helping AT ALL when it comes to taking care of them but as soon as someone thinks they are neat then he ADORES them and acts like he does all this stuff with them. HAH!

I think they say no or they'll consider it because it makes them feel like they actually have a say so...we all know how that goes...happy wife happy life. When we were in montana we went to TSC and they had chicks so my husband was like get some... I of course yelled YES! I know your not suppose to get them before your ready but I was not giving up the chance lord knows later he would say no so we got 2. Well then we went to shiptons and got 2 more....then my sister in law jumped the band wagon and got 2 which I got stuck with. So they started growing and that was fine took them to cali for a vacation brought them home and 4 of the 6 turned into roos and 1 pullet I hated...she was my sister in laws so they all went to a really nice family.

So husband said NO MORE and I said but babe i put all this money and time into them...and poor Ethel she can't be the only chicken they are social birds...so he said fine So I got 3 new hens one I was going to rehome cuz she is a moody fart well then I was on the phone with my mother and shes like ah...just keep her what difference does one chicken make I said Excellent point. So we moved to california with my parents brought our 4 hens built a brand new coop and then i ordered a incubator which is coming today and guess what I'm getting eggs and husband just says baby I'm excited for you...OH I LOVE it...mind you these are silkies i will be hatching to I might just purchase some Large frame eggs to throw in at the same time right...lol
