Hello, my mom found 3 baby chicks who got abandoned by the mother hen. And because normally they would live in the wild, and come back only to roost in some random tree , we have no heat lamp, cage, feed, shavings ,nada . I AM UNPREPARED PEOPLE! So Ive been keeping them in my hoodie for body heat they seem fine now but,could anyone tell me some advice . It’d be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! also there’s currently a storm outside and cold here

Are there any farm and feeds open nearby that you could go to get supplies? Do you have any heat pads?

A space heater and a small room might suffice.

If they are tiny, like day-olds or so, you can get them through the night with a cardboard box and a table lamp if you can set it up safely. They don"t need to eat over night, but you need to keep them warm. They will probably peep all night bc the lamp will keep them awake. Don't put water in a bowl or dish, they will get wet and cold.

In the morning as early as possible, get all those things you listed. Get baby chick crumbles and baby chick grit. They will need the grit in a couple of weeks, when you start adding treats to their diet. Come back and ask about treats, they won't need many! A feeder and waterer. Puppy pee pads are great for lining the bottom of the cage, makes for easier cleaning. A red heating lamp made specially for chickens. Make sure it does NOT have a latex coating. That should get you started. Good luck!

Water - small dish with pebbles or marbles so they don’t drown.

Food- scrambled or hard boiled eggs

Heat- make a little ‘wool hen’ with old blanket or clothes (google wool hen)

Update : it’s 4 in the morning, I’m sorry they didn’t make it, hopefully this doesn’t happen again and I’m more prepared but thank you all for replying I appreciate it very much
