Opa's place -Where an old rooster visits with friends

OK, what is Naties? Is it Nattie light? The beer of choice? LOL
I like men who don't mind guinea pig status!

It figures that since I been hunting not fishing, that the fish would finally come into the river. My friend who I've been fishing with called to tell me that yesterday he and another friend pulled a limit of steelhead. I'll bet that when I finally get a chance to go again they will have dropped back into the big lake.

I think natties are turnips but I'm not sure. Natties Light is a slang phrase for cheep beer whose only recommendation is it's low price.

Neeps are turnips, and are very good! I know that Sally was quite fond of the Nattie Light, as I am also, cheap and low cal!
I have to drink light for awhile since I gained 10 lbs. on holiday! To much good food and drink in Scotland!

Hi Opa. Sorry about hijacking your place. Right now, it seems that you are in the same spot as me. A day late and a dollar short. This is not a complaint, sometimes life be that way!

I like neeps! But, you can keep the Natties. I'll splurge for decent local beer!

I think you are trying to remember Neeps and Tatties, which are mashed potatoes. I like my rutabagas mashed with carrots, butter, and a bit of nutmeg.

Well, the haggis would be an appetiser, I normally do a prime rib with Yorkshire pudding and all the other fixins!

But be warned, everytime I make Yorkshire pudding I manage to set every smoke alarm in the house off. I still have not mastered getting the grease hot without it smoking

I never have burned the grease, and everythings tastes great once the smoke clears!

While I never have been a big fan of ruttabaga, I do alway use them when I make venison pasties. Without that unique flavor a pastie just doesn't taste right.
