What better way could one end the year but with well wishes from good friends. I thank you for all that you have added to my life and wish each and everyone the best for the coming year.

Good for you opa, there is nothing quite like knowing that someone did the right thing because it is the right thing, not because they were scared of getting caught. And happy new year wishes for excellent hatches this year for all.

Cold here today so it was a perfect day for soup. I made a cauliflower and cheese soup for supper and it sure went over well with both Hope and Granny. There was only enough left for Granny to have a small bowl for lunch tomorrow. There is something about soup that makes it seem the ideal meal on cold winter nights.

I haven't shaved since the first part of October and neither has my friend Bob. He has a very fast growing snow white full beard and with his rotund body little kids often think that he is Santa Claus. Mine on the other had is rather sparce. The mustache comes in well as well as my chin but the rest of it is pitiful. Plus with its grizzled gray color I was starting to resemble a billy goat.

Since tomorrow I must attend a funeral for a fireman that retired the year before me, and then on Thursday another funeral for one of my neighbors I decided that I needed to shave. To accomplish that I took scissors to it and clipped it as close as possible with the intention of shaving after taking a shower tonight. I was surprized that Hope didn't want me to shave it. I'm not sure if she really liked it or if she would prefer I look bad when I go out in public. I think it is probably one of those imponderable women things.

Well the chin and the cheeks are now clean shaven. I'm back to just my bushy mustache. Granny says it looks more like me. Hope wasn't feeling well so I'll have to wait for her opinion.

Opa how do you make that soup? Sounds good too me. I pray that you and your family and all of our friends on this board have a happy and healthy 2012.

Making the soup was actually quite easy. Break one cauliflower into small florets, steam over a cup of chicken broth until tender, set aside.
Add one pint of half and half to simmering broth. Slowly add 1 cup of shreddd mild cheddar cheese, stirring continually until melted. Add 1/2 cup of diced ham and cauliflower. Season with a little fresh cracked black pepper then serve.

Yuummmmmmmm.........sounds delish Opa!

Highlander, How are things with you? I heard Britian was experiencing some high winds.......everything okay there?
