Opa's place -Where an old rooster visits with friends

That's the trouble with having a daughter who has never stuck her feet under my table. She is uninformed as to the various foods I place on my table and I wish she could have eaten dinner with us.

Corned beef that you find in a can starts out the same as the corned beef used for boiled dinners or for sandwiches such as ruebens. However, the canning and preserving process does alter the taste substantially. Corned beef starts out as a beef brisket the in brined in a solution of water, salt, sugar and pickling spices. The temperature is kept close to 42 degrees and after a week it is removed and the meat has taken on the bright red color for which corned beef is know.

I've never had a reubens nor has sauerkraut passed my lips before. I can't help feeling I must be missing out on something here!

While you might find sauerkraut an acquired taste due to its acidic bite, when served with a reuben it compliments the corned beef perfectly. I know you will find it much more palatable than haggis.

Chelsea, you have no excuse not to have a cup since you know where the cups are kept. You also know the door is always open to you.

Just a quick sip for me.. on a quick break at work... one of these days I am gonna sneak in this back room and this computer is going to be gone LOL

spent the day in San Francisco with the kids yesterday and had a GREAT time. Chinese food, visited where my mom is inturred, rode cable cars, walked on the beach, went to Pier 39 and aquarium and had chowder bread bowls and crab for dinner. It was an amazing day.. Have to write more when I get a chance....
