Many, many warm hugs and good thoughts for Maggie and Luna.

On a side note, Sam, I am sure you had no real problems with the toilet uninstallation/installation. We all recognize that you have many years of poop management!

Hope everyone that was unwell is feeling better. I won't ask about your end again Sam, although I would like to know how Granny and Hope are doing?

Happy Belated Birthday Laura! So sorry we missed it!

Have a good day everyone. Going to try and get lots of outside stuff done today as we have SNOW forecast for the weekend!

What a wonderful way to start my morning, discovering my dear highland flower is here. Granny and Hope are both much improved and hopefully that will be the last illness visited upon this house for awhile. Today is supposed to be warm and sunny so perhaps I will move the chicks out into the tractor. It also will be a good day to clean the coops and cages. The cages will be very much needed if all of the eggs in the bator hatch.

Fairybee I hope everything goes better for you today.
This weather is not to be believed, it is cold. Last night it got so windy we lost power for about 3 hours. It is cold this morning, but it is supposed to get up to 70 today.
Please keep good thoughts for my Mom, Monday is her last scheduled chemo treatment. Let's just pray she stays cancer free.
DH and I are going to be getting 6 more chickens from popcornpuppy this week. They are barred Plymouth Rocks. I just hope when we introduce them to the girls, the new pecking order will establish fast. How long should I quarentine them? Or if she has a healthy flock, can I just put them together right away? I know I've heard people say keep them away from each other and quarentine them, but do you really need to?

MomaG, the usual quarantine period is three weeks. Oft times people will place new birds in a cage very close to their flock. That would not be very effective since many illnesses are airborne. I have often added new birds to my flock without a waiting period when I felt the flock they came from was healthy, i.e. the bird given to me by Yaklady. However, many experts advise against doing that so I guess it could be a risk, and maybe if I had very expensive show birds I might be more cautious. I've found that you will have fewer problems if you wait until well after your birds have gone to roost before introducing the new bird.

Easttxchick, I have a dog like your doxie, only I got her when she was 2 years old. The best thing I found was to not give her any attention when she was hiding and nervous. Don't pet her and tell her it is ok. When she is good, then give her positive attention. Good luck. It took my lil beagle 2 months before she even came to me. Now she is great with me, my dh and my daughters but any strangers come in and she is under the covers. We have 3 other dogs that showed her how to act too. When your doxie gets older I would take her to the dog park and/or training so she can be around other people and dogs.

I hope everyone has had good news from the doctors!!

My chicks are now outside all the time! They are doing great.

The weather is good here in Maryland. Only a week left and I will be past the first anniversary.

Have a good day all.

Afternoon all! Hope you are all having a more productive day than I am-kind of drizzling rain and my allergies have got me laid low. Took 1 childrens benadryl last night and couldn't even handle that

so no more antihistamines for me.
My puppy is pretty much the same. Still really shy around everyone but me. I took him to the vet on Monday for is 2nd round of shots and they told me that it is really hard to tell if he has suffered abuse or if he is just really shy(I find that hard to believe considering the way he acts when he and I are home alone). They told me that DH is just going to have to be really patient with him and spend as much time with him as he can.
The garden is growing nicely so far(as long as I keep the birds out of it

) and I'm anxious to get some fresh lettuce and mustard greens within the next few weeks. My girls have been laying like maniacs as well. Guess this weather agrees with everything except my allergies.
Hope you are all doing well.

Granny has a female bichon that came from a breeding kennel. She was six years old and the dog had never been out of a cage. She had to be house broken and socialised. For months she would run and hide from Granny but she kept working with the dog and finally it would respond to her. Still if some one else would come in the dog would run and hide. She was still doing that when Granny moved here. We just kept trying to get her to res;pond to us and after about six months she has become very affectionate to all of us.
