Mama G, so sorry you are hurting, praying for you and your family

Welcome Will! Enjoy the coffee!!

So glad they are able to help Granny with her eyes!! My momma has a detached retina and so far they have had no suggestions for improvement for her and she is slowly losing her sight more and more. It is amazing how they can fix us now though.

Princess I don't have a clue what your talking about but sure am glad the ship make's you happy...lol.

Yesterday was incredibly hot and muggy here, canned all day and the back porch kitchen was showing a 102 degrees...but got quite a bit done and we finally finished plowing out our potatoes and getting them picked up, so glad that job is over for another year.

Opa were the storms bad last night? I looked at radar late and it showed some bad stuff up your way, hope all is well and the garden is ok. Our okra is starting to bloom, hope we get a little rain so it doesn't dry up. We haven't had more than a shower here since the last of May and I really don't know what is keeping some stuff alive.

Hope all is well with everyone, talk to you soon.

We lucked out last night with the storms. The worst of it stay about 25 miles south of me so all we had was a little rain and a spectacular light show of lightning flashes. Several tornadoes were spotted in the series of storms that blew through but I don't think there was much damage. The worst of the storm track was right through a town that was hit hard by a tornado last week. Needless to say those people were nervous.

Sort of overcast here today with a chance of showers but it is still a beautiful day. One thing that contributed to my good mood was a phone call from my youngest son. He was extremely optimistic about a job interview that he went on yesterday. He graduated from Tulane with a degree in fine art and I have often teased him about having graduated magna cum dummy. He is extremely intellegent and needs a job that challenges him mentally. He currently is working for a newpaper doing their graphic design but feels limited and that his chance for advancement is nil. He interviewed with a computer software company that designs banking software. My oldest son's wife has worked for them for ten years and it is an excellent place to work. Hopefully he will get the job so he can fullfill his potential.

Yesterday I put together a computer driven telescope for a customer. Pretty straight forward task and it went well. Now they want me to calibrate it so they don't have much to do. After several hours of reading the manual I realize I need to be one of the intellectually gifted and talented people. Now if the stupid thing was made out of wood I might stand a better chance at finishing it.

Hello and Good Morning Opa, I've been watching this thread for awhile but never stopped in for a cuppa. Seems you've got alot of empty chairs today so I thought I'd grab a cup with you if you don't mind.

We've been having quite the rainy spring and again last night had a loud thunderstorm pass through. This morning I'm doing some inside chores waiting for the grass to dry a bit and then it will be out to the garden. Everything is green and lush and the birds are singing. It'll be great to get the laundry hung and get to weeding, won't want to be out later in the humidity.

Have a wonderful day and greetings to Hope and Granny too.

NotAFarm, welcome! It's a bit slow in here right now, everyone is taking advantage of the opportunity to be outdoors. Except me, I am loving the AC! Sounds like you have a climate similar to mine.

PK, my all time favorite spaceship has to be the Gay Deceiver, from books by Robert Heinlen, sci-fi genre.

Highlander, the Gay Deceiver not only produced the food, it had walk-in closets and a spa. It was magically expanding once you went inside!

CCMH, I always wanted an outdoor kitchen when I lived in TX. Here? My regular galley size one might as well be one, it's so hot in there all the time. It's on the south side of the house, which is great.... in the winter!

Opa, best of luck to DS3, I really hope it works out for him.

As far as the telescope? Good luck! You have the brain for the math, take your time and IWBF.

I'm enjoying the Saturday cooking shows on PBS and taking a break after running errands. Jacques Pepin and Julia Child are my favorites, though I've seen them all before. Then I need to move the smaller of the packing crates so I can get my truck in to unload the chicken and duck feed.

I keep waffling about keeping or selling chickens. It's a lot of work for me to maintain them, but the hardest part is maintaining the ducks. So I am thinking of selling the ducks. But they are awfully entertaining and fun to have around..... so I need to make it easier to take care of everyone by streamlining operations. DH and I have been mostly talking about coop maintenance, because the plastic shed as coop idea is not working out at all. Too hard to clean and not enough ventilation. Need to get cracking on the crate so I can use it to replace the plastic shed.

Any and all suggestions appreciated!

NotAFarm welcome!! You will like it here, the folks are great! Hot and oh so humid here again today, close to 100 this afternoon they say, was 98 on the canning porch when I was finishing green beans a little bit ago. We are certainly in need of a rain, been over 5 weeks and I believe we have lost our corn crop among other things and we were sure hoping for some this year as it burned up last year too. Bright side is we have some okra, and I didn't think it would make either.

Opa, hoping all goes well for your son and it works out the best for him.

Had a phone call yesterday from the young lady that I buy milk from. She has been expecting her fourth child and she called to let me know that her new baby girl had made it. She is quite the unusual girl by today's standards; we had talked and I knew that she was wanting to give birth at home, as she had with all but one of the other children. Well she did and all went well...she delivered about 45 minutes before the midwife arrived!! What blew me away was she was telling me that her father in law was going to do the milking that evening since she was in labor (nice of him), but the one cow only gave a quart of milk, so out goes my little milk lady (in second stage labor, mind you) and finishes milking the cow because she usually gets a gallon! Couple hours later she delivers her daughter! She tells me that they let her sleep in the next morning and rest that day but then back to the regular chores around the place, 2 days later, she's working in the garden....what a gal!!

Hope everyone is having a good day! Send some rain our way!!!
