Good evening all,
I have had a perfectly useless, lazy and delightful day! I highly recommend that everyone take a day off while the weather is close to ideal.
Despite my big plans for cooking all day, I only got as far as cutting and storing a ribeye in the freezer and using the trimmings for stew meat. Then I napped for a few hours. Got up again, piddled around for a bit and took another nap. Got up again to feed the critters and now I am noodling around on the comp!
I'll have to swing into action tomorrow, but it was lovely to just really take a day off and recharge the batteries. Catching up on rest is always a good idea! It's quite nice having a DH who can feed himself as needed, a freezer full of steaks for him and beef stew waiting to be made first thing tomorrow.
Little JJ the chick is doing well. I was going to get some chicks to pal around with him this morning but for various reasons decided not to. He listened to TV most of the day and seems to be doing fine on his own. I did candle the next hatch on Day 7, there are 3 clears and 9 developing. Several look a bit strange, but with any luck they'll be okay.
Opa, best wishes for John, please give my best to Hope as well. I would imagine her stress levels are pretty high right now, as well as everyone elses'.
Pati, the Columbian pattern is in this case white with black hackles and some black in the tail. Highlander has some fabulous Columbian pattern birds in various colors. I am far from expert on breeds, patterns and genetics in general, so take anything I say with a big grain of salt!
Viejo, the little guy understands Spanish already, as do both my dogs. Though I don't use it daily anymore, I still dream in Spanish. The one thing my dogs hear most is "no mas", meaning no more! As far as slow on a keyboard, just one more thing we have in common! I never took typing, I had plans to never be in an office, rather to be an adventurer. And in the weird way that life goes, my last "real" job was as an Office Manager of a clam farm!
That in itself was an adventure......
Hi Mary, glad to hear the freezer is full, that's my security blanket, too. I do try to cook out of it all winter so it's cleaned out by spring, when hurricane season starts. In fall I start stocking it again, buying from the holiday sales mostly.
PK, so sorry about Julia.
Don't worry too much about the SATs yet, I actually enjoyed the challenge. I think you will do well, just keep up on your usual studies! May I be an official member of the PK fan club?
Woody, I will be happy to send you the monkey after JJ is done with it. It might need to be cleaned though. I'm fairly certain you have ample access to monkeys where you are, I got those two at the dollar store!
I haven't read a decent book in ages, something I need to do. DH reads a lot, I always seem to end up on the computer these days. The used book store is about 35 miles away and I don't go that direction very often. Winter time is ideal for catching up!
