Well, we got another foot of snow yesterday. Another snow day. Shovelled and played out in the snow all day yesterday with the kids...even had a snowball fight with my ten year old and he won. Love this snow, but I think we can cry uncle now. Around here the snow banks aren't too bad because there are plenty of places to put the snow, but if you drive into the city the snowbanks look llike icebergs they are so big. I don't think we are going to see the ground until May at this rate. Not to mention that we will have all these snow days to make up in June.
How about all of you, how is the weather and snow situation in your areas?
Our snowfall is falling far short of normal this year. It snowed most of yesterday but we got less than 2 inches. They are calling for another storm tonight that will crop another 3 inches but the brunt of the storm is raging far south of me. It seems that all of the severe storms have wound up south of us traveling the Ohio valley and then up the east coast. Hopefully this trend will end without dumping lots of snow on me.
MamaG I almost hate to say this, but, all our snow is melted and it was 58 here to day, tomorrow too...but back to sleet/ice/snow next week!! We are below normal on precipitation though and would take it any form; but a couple of warmer sunny days are nice. Hope it improves for you soon!!!!
CCMH, two of my sons live a little west of you and they were telling me the same thing. It will probably be at least 3 or even 4 months before we see that high a temp.
Highs in the sixties again. Lows still below freezing, but just barely. The good news is that my barn swallows have returned, and are repairing their nest from last year. Love those little migrating beauties... That tells me that spring is just around the corner for my area...
Had another great weather day here again today, hubby went gigging tonight with his sons.....and he just won't go hardly at all with cold weather...but its still 40ish this evening. Our brief reprieve is about to be over; supposed to have some more frozen and white stuff this week and then back into the deep freeze for a while. Time to get serious about ordering the garden seeds I guess so we can work on our hotbed when the time comes. Hope that everyone has had a good day; my chicken coops are clean and restrawed tonight...I didn't have to cook dinner...and I get to play on the computer ALL evening...woohoo!! Blessings, CCMH
Good weather is over!!! Ice, freezing rain starts tomorrow; they are saying "widespread power outages".......can hardly wait! So I may be MIA for a bit, but going to try and keep my battery on the computer charged up just in case I need it. A lot of others are going to get the heavy snow; everyone please be careful! Going to move momma over here to our place tomorrow before it gets too bad, just in case. Take care! Blessings, CCMH
The last two days were pretty nice days as far as winter weather goes. While the temperature never got above 25 it was sunny and no wind. Now things are changing in a big way. Our temperatures have started falling, it's down to 5, and I think it will probably drop some more before daylight. We as supposed to only get an inch or two of snow today but tomorrow we stand to get dumped on big time. They are calling for 10-15 inches in my area which is alot of snow at one time no matter how used to snow you are. This will be the first double digit single snowfall we've had in six years.
Last night I talked with Joe, my oldest son, and he was getting ready for the storm as well. Stocked up on kerosene, batteries, gasoline and of course food. Tested his generator to make sure it's running and changes over smoothly. Guess you can't get any more ready than that. I'd better go fill a gas can so I will have fuel for the snow blower. Sure wouldn't want to run out before everything is cleared out.
Since the forecast states that 3/4 of the country is fixin' to get nailed by this storm, stay safe and warm all.
