Opa's place -Where an old rooster visits with friends

I can't believe the good fortune that we are having with reqard to the weather. While the nights have been cool the daytime temperature have been in the upper 70's. Hopefully we will get one more week of this kind of weather.

Yesterday Hope and I went to Eureka Springs Arkansas and what a great sidetrip that was. The road we took was sure winding and precipitious and Hope thinks that if we were to live there she would never be able to drive. The town is built on the sides of the mountains and many businesses have entrances on different streets and on different levels. Most of the buildings are from the Victorian era and what is unusual is that the only purpose the town has ever had has been the tourist industry. The town grew up around springs where folks would go in hopes of healing what ever aliment they were afflicted by.

Today we went to Branson and I think you would run out of money well before you would run out of things to see and do.

Opa, so glad you and Hope are making your trip at last, I hope you have a wonderful time.

Highlander, How is the weather up with you now, glad that hurricane slipped past you, but I am amazed at all the rain you have had up there. Now it seems like our turn, Last night it was coming down sideways, BUrch!!!! Mud everywhere, especially with two collies in and out...lol. I seem to have spent hours just cleaning floors and doors and anything that takes a side swipe from a tail or paws.

The girls are enjoying it though, they are now allowed to play in the full garden and they are having such fun.

I have retreated to the kitchen and taking snaps of the garden birds through the window....lol.

I hate rain and I am aching in places I had forgotten for a while. lol.

Hope you are all OK and Ranchie, what's Up? Hope you are doing well and have rehomes all those Roos.

The last weekend is here and this vacation is too quickly coming to an end. Yesterday I finished all of the projects that Scott had needed my help with and Joe was finished earlier in the week. Today we are going to Mount Vernon for Apple Butter Days and look at all of the craft exhibits.

On Monday we will start our leisurely way back home. The Laura Ingalls Wilder museum is one stop, several springs and other unusual natural wonders, a few historical towns and battlefields and then on Tuesday or Wednesday we make the last push for home.

So glad you have had a wonderful vacation!! Sounds like the way home will be great too......

Well the vacation is over and while it was nice to be gone, it is always feels good to be home again. We had a great time and I was able to get several tasks done for Joe and Scott. At Joe's one of the bigger projects was installing a wall mounted flat screen TV. Getting the power and cable connection through the floor and into the wall was something he had really been dreading. At Scott's the major complaint they had was a severe water hammer when they used their shower. Seems it was worse at the ideal temperature so their showers had to be either to hot or to cold. Scott said he couldn't been live how good it felt to take a shower without it sounding like someone was beating the door down.

While we were there Hope and I took a couple of day trips to Eureka Springs and to Branson. Then on our way home we stopped at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum. Unfortunately, we arrived at 8am and they didn't open until noon. From there we went to Johnson's Shut In. The drive was all secondary roads and with the leaves starting to turn you couldn't have had a more enjoyable experience. We hiked the park to the river and wished that we had dressed differently. It would have been nice to have waded out into the river so we could have enjoyed the full experience.

From there we drove to Pilot Knob and the Ft Davison civil war battlefield. A short drive later we were at Elephant Rock State Park and in was both interesting and enjoyable to view the unusual rock formations and old rock quarry.

We ended our day touring Ste Genevieve and it is wonderful that so many of the old buildings have been preserved. All and all you couldn't have had a more pleasant day.

We spent the night just south of Saint Louis and then yesterday made the drive home. The further north we drove the more pronounced the colors became and it is apparent that fall is here. Not much time left to get all of the things that I need to do to get ready for winter.

I'm glad your trip is going splendidly, Opa.
