I've never been a fan of facial hair on women, but V looked very distinguished with a beard.
And her husband and kids were just lovely.

I wouldn't assume that an ocean would provide enough of a barrier. She has crossed that ocean before and I'm sure she would do it again if motivated.

I know of only one way that you could truly be safe. Start raising butterflies.

Yesterday I decided that I needed to go to TSC and pick up a few ISA brown chicks. Several of my hens are 4 years old so it's time to replace them. While I was standing in line to pay for my purchases I could observe several cages that an animal rescue group had set up at the front of the store. I'm really glad that there are individuals that try to find homes for these poor creatures. There was one young mixed breed dog whose actions were heart breaking. Each time someone would walk by the cage she would stand wagging her tail, and look up in anticipation. It was almost as if she were pleading for someone to take her.

I was at our local TSC yesterday to buy egg cartons for hatching shipped eggs for the Easter Hatchalong. They also had a rescue group with puppies available for adoption. I wonder if this was something they did at all their stores. The puppies had been sent up from Alabama to be homed. Some were so skinny and had that "pleading" look......I managed to give a donation and walk away......but I would have loved to be able to give one a home.

I hate those kind of stores that would put up pets for adoption when it is very close to Easter. Our Rural King has chicks in but must buy six. The only pullets they have are the RIR (most likely the red productions) for $1.99 each.

My Spitzhauben chicks are doing quite well this week, growing like a weed and getting some decent mohawks. Only time will tell if they make the cut or not. Otherwise I will have to keep buying more or hope to get some from Carla and Chris in the Spitzhauben thread.

Going to be fun I am sure. Predicting weather to be very warm inthe 70's this week. Debating on whether or not it is safe for the chicks to be outside for a few hours. They were hatched on Feb 21st.

Hi from California everyone. =Just an update. My mom is doing much better. They will probably move her tomorrow to a rehab facility to build up her strength in anticipation of returning to her home. Thanks everyone for your prayers and support. BYCers are such great and caring people.

That's great news!! My father-in-law went through CHF and renal failure at 93. It seemed like the CHF would get better and his kidneys would start to shut down. Then when the kidneys were better the CHF again. His two specialist were just so single-minded that they would not work toward a balance between the two. They treated their specialty and sacrificed the other. It was such a frustrating time. I am very happy that your mother is in better hands.
